“Wizard of Gore” DVD Update
Jun 9th, 2008

As we reported back in May, Jeff’s film, Wizard of Gore in which he plays a Circus Geek is now officially set to be released on DVD August 19th!
___
I just spoke with director Jeremy Kasten who gave me some exclusive details on the DVD itself:
“I’m very excited because I’ve been very involved with everything that goes on that DVD. The Weinstein Company has been completely thrilled with everything we’ve given them…We shot tons of behind the scenes footage, really interesting stuff, I think there’s over an hour and a half of additional material with deleted scenes in it.”
___
He also mentions Jeff is in some of the special features:
“There are several extended scenes and two extensive behind-the-scenes featurettes that Jeff appears in, including one where we reveal how his makeup was done!”
___
How cool is that? This is so exciting! The extras sound awesome!
Kasten’s background is in producing and editing bonus material for DVD’s including features for Spiderman 2 and other big budget films so we know he’s going to have amazing features on his own movie’s DVD!

Wizard of Gore is Kasten’s “cover” of the H.G. Lewis 70’s splatter film and follows the story of sadistic magician, Montag the Magnificent (Crispin Glover) who holds bizarre midnight stage shows and performs seemingly deadly acts on his female victims, only to have them walk offstage unharmed. Several days later, these same women show up dead with the injuries they seemed to incur at the show. A young reporter (Kip Pardue) curious about the events, starts to look into Montag’s background and reveals some horrifying truths. Jeff plays Montag’s opening act, a Circus Geek who bites the heads off rats and eats live maggots!
