Con Reports from Full Moon in AR!
Nov 3rd, 2007
I’ve received some great reports about Jeff’s appearance at last weekend’s Full Moon Convention in Little Rock, AR. It being the first year for this con, there were still some “kinks” to be worked out and the attendance was a little low. (*cough* move it to California! *cough*) Still, it sounds like Jeff had a great time interacting with his fans and the fans really enjoyed meeting him!
I also love how big Jeff’s sign was over his table! From all I’ve heard, he and Linda Blair were the big draw at this con! I’m so pleased for Jeff!
Last time, I was thanking mostly girls for their reports, this time, it’s the boys’ turn!
Many thanks go to: David, Daryn, Danny, and Adam for their great con reports and photos!
If anyone wants to add their memories to this post, please email me (Elisa) at darias_diner@yahoo.com
And don’t forget: Jeff has one more con this weekend – the Orlando Sci-Fi Expo on November 3-4 in Orlando, FL. More information on this con here

Here are our own JCFC Admin David’s thoughts on the convention:

There really isn’t very much to report on the Full Moon convention. I arrived on Sunday and entered around 11am, one of only a few others there. Sundays are not the most active day for conventions, especially ones that are horror based AND in the bible belt. Around 1pm things did pick up a bit. Most of the guest celebrities began arriving after this time, although some didn’t attend. Tony Todd was scheduled to be there but didn’t make it, I was looking forward to meeting him.
Vendors lined the walls with a variety of videos, clothing, posters, toys and almost anything else you could ask for. I almost bought the Shran figure from Enterprise, a rare collectable figure, but had to pass on the price. Ah well. There were some shows too, music, magic, and another one that I can’t report on since I didn’t see it (but Jeff said I wasn’t missing anything).
Overall it was a fine con although attendance was very low and it seemed to slow down the atmosphere of the event. At least that allowed me to visit with Jeff more without bothering his signings.
Read on for lots more con reports and photos!

Jeff arrived and I spoke with him as he set up his booth (which looked like it had been ransacked overnight because the tape holding signs had loosened). We talked about a lot of things until the fans started arriving so I went looking around the con for a while. After lunch (Jeff gave me directions to places in walking distance of the center) I was able to talk more with Jeff since the croud died down a lot. Later on Stuart Gordon arrived and was able to talk with him as well.
Briefly some of the topics we talked about were:
The California fires, Jeff said that there’s no danger to his home or family at all right now. The high winds have been more of a danger than anything but other than that everything’s fine. He expressed his gratitude to everyone that’s been asking about this.
House of Re-Animator: Maybe they will have someone to work on a script sometime soon. Maybe. All in all it seems like it will be put back until an unforseeable future date. Sorry folks.
The 4400: He’s still waiting to hear like everyone else if it will be picked up for a 5th season or not and then if they will be needing him for Kevin.
He’s getting ready to start on a new project but couldn’t talk about it right now. Once he has some details that can be released he’ll let me know more.
Before leaving I was able to get some photos with Jeff and both he and Stuart signed a photo for me which I really love.

Daryn also had a great experience with Jeff:

The Full Moon Horror Convention happened this past weekend (October 26-28) in Little Rock, Arkansas. Why Arkansas? Good question. Mainly I think it was an inexpensive venue and… I guess, why not? I’d never been to Arkansas but figured it was worth the gamble to head off there for the first Full Moon Con. Especially given the amazing guest list and events lined up.
I knew it was a risk — and it wasn’t all awesome. But the pros ended up outweighing the cons. I mean, seriously, how many cons can you get Linda Blair out to? Seriously. And I also won a free VIP pass to the upcoming Fear Fest 2 in Texas in March which looks awesomely amazing!
Because I can get awkward around celebrities I decided to visit the celebrity grotto on Saturday when it was teeming with people. I took a break partway through though to hit the ATM and get dinner. When I got back, things were winding down and there were just a few people milling around the celebrity tables. So I headed over to Jeff’s table.
I walked up and said “Hey Jeff!” and he’s like “Hey! How’s it going?” and I handed him my Dr Mordrid DVD cover and he laughed and he circled “Master of the Unknown” and asks me, “So if I’m the Master of the Unknown, what am I the master of?” And I said “Everything I don’t know?” And he responds “EXACTLY!” I told him about how the wallpaper on all the computers I use at work is the cover art from Doctor Mordrid and he was tickled and said “That’s awesome! I’m totally a Mac guy, have been for years.”
[I work for Apple] I asked and it is for certain there will not be a sequel to Dr. Mordrid (or at least Jeff won’t be in it if it happens) Which I said was OK cuz the original can stand on its own and he laughed and said yes it can.
I had my picture taken with him but that’s pending my developing the film and scanning the picture.
And here’s Daryn’s photo with Jeff!

Here is Danny (and his wife Karen)’s first experience meeting Jeff!
THE ONLY reason we went to this event was to meet Jeff Combs. We are huge Star Trek fans, especially of the Deep Space Nine series. My wife Karen works for the Little Rock FOX and CW (formerly UPN) TV stations and we followed Enterprise through to completion. We almost didn’t go to this show and she gets all the credit for turning a lifetime dream into a reality.
What a GREAT GUY! He’s very modest and a little soft spoken. Of course I blurted out an insane amount of appreciation to Jeff for his work in Star Trek Deep Space Nine. Jeff could not emphasize enough how enjoyable it was working with Armin Shimerman (Quark) and Wallace Shawn (Grand Nagus). He also thought it was unfortunate that Enterprise didn’t pick up steam until its later years of the series.
We walked around the corner and passed the photo booth and realized we should probably get our photos made with Jeff in the official booths. Photo booth #2 had a black backdrop and an open coffin on display, complete with several murder weapons for the choosing! While Karen and I argued over which murder weapon Jeff should use to kill us, the photographer summoned Jeff from his booth. Folks, I can’t tell you how accommodating Jeff was in acting out these photos! The three of us cut-up and Jeff would occasionally use his three Star Trek character voices. I was having the time of my life!

I would like to thank Jeffrey Combs for being so accommodating and for putting up with this fan’s hour-long Q&A session. Jeff, please know that you are always welcome in Arkansas!

Special Bonus Photo
Adam is a photographer and publishes some of his amazing photography in his blog and on his Flickr site.
At the Full Moon con on Saturday, Adam took what is now one of my absolute favorite photos of Jeff ever.
Here it is:
Thanks so much, Adam!
And here are Adam’s thoughts on the convention:
Michael Graves and Jeffrey Combs, on top of being awesome at what they do (and as far as I know, have no connection with each other), are very, very cool guys. Both completely approachable. With respect to Mr. Graves and Mr. Combs, I would say I am an entry-level fanboy so I couldn’t bore them all day about their own catalogues of work, but there was nonetheless some nice conversation. I told Michael Graves that when I saw The Misfits at the New Daisy, it was the first I had ever even heard the band (I was there with a friend to see Earth Crisis) and to date, still the loudest show I had ever seen. I was surprised to hear him say the name of the venue before I did. To Jeff Combs, I gave the glory of being the “redeeming factor” of The Frighteners (which is not to say the movie was bad. He was just incredibly good). He told me about how much of a joy it was to work with Peter Jackson. Both of these guys were completely mezmerized by my camera (the Mamiya C33 TLR) so both conversations lead to photography and this beauty of a photo-taking machine. You really couldn’t ask for a nicer couple of guys.
Thanks to everyone for their great reports and photos! Glad you had a good time!
