The Weekend of Horrors in Botropp, Germany was Jeff’s last convention of what was a very busy year of appearances!

Special thanks go to Sandra, Ela, and Fabrice for their great con reports and photos. Sandra especially, I want to thank for her great firsthand report and for her kind words to Jeff himself about the blog!

If anyone else would like to contribute their reports or photos, please send them to darias_diner@yahoo.com

It makes me so happy to receive all these great reports of how sweet and kind Jeff is to his fans. I cherish all my memories of my meetings with Jeff as I know the rest of you do who have met him. And for those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to quite yet, here’s hoping you’ll get your chance to meet Jeff soon!

Thanks again, Jeff, for being so wonderful to all of us fans. We truly appreciate it! Now get some rest and enjoy the holidays! :)

Sandra had the incredibly envying job of being Jeff’s assistant for the weekend. Here are Sandra’s thoughts on her amazing experience:

The Weekend of Horrors was my third and certainly not last visit to a horror convention. Actually I am a visitor from the very beginning of the Weekend of Horrors!

This time there was a fundamental change, namely my position from a general visitor to assistant of star guest Jeffrey Combs. You might now ask yourself why this honor? Well, it was actually sheer luck and connections. I was really afraid that Jeff would cancel shortly before the con, as so many other starguest have already done previously. But my luck persisted and Jeff made it.

On Saturday the crew members had to meet at 8 a.m. at the convention center, which was a two story building in the middle of the industrial center of Germany. Not even the local taxi drivers knew where the heck the omnious “Saalbau” was located. We helped to set the tables for the star guests, taped some posters on the walls, helped with decoration and got quickly briefed on what there is to do as assistant.

Jeff arrived with a smile on his face and started to set the table with his pictures. I went to him and introduced myself as his assistant, then helped him to set the table. It did not take so much time because the space we had was limited and he only brought about 7 different sets of pictures. I hoped he did not notice my nervousness but that was absolutely gone when we sat down and started to talk. I guessed that happend with all my fellow assistants, because after some time everybody was chatting and having a great time with their assigned star guest!

Soon the fans started to crowd the tables and Jeff and I had lots of work to do. The time flew by while chatting with Jeff and the others in between signing autographs, eating cold fries and Greg Nicotero (who sat next to me) continuously scaring me with his puppet head named “Fluffy” and it was time for the first photo shoot. I accompanied Jeff downstairs and led him to the photo shoot location. I ran to get to the end of the queue to get my own photo with Jeff that I must say came out pretty good! Of course I had to get it signed as well.

As it was time for his Q + A I accompanied him to the stage and eagerly listened to what he had to tell. Jeff’s current projects are a movie called Parasomnia which synopsis sounds very interesting and his cameo in the CBS series “Cold Case” which will air in the US sometime soon.

The next day luckily did not start so early. We had to be there at 10 a.m. and I just had to uncover Jeff’s pictures at the table. The organizer also gave me some new and pretty good Re-Animator pictures which he got from the dealer’s room downstairs hoping that Jeff will sell them well on the last day (Sunday) which is always known to be quiet.

Sadly the Weekend of Horrors was coming to an end at 6 p.m. on Sunday and it was almost time to say goodbye. Jeff had to wait for the bus to return him to the hotel, so he wanted “to hang out with the Swiss bunch” as he called us and we all drank a beer together. I had mixed feelings. I was a little sad that the weekend was already over, but extremely happy that I had the chance to meet Jeff and got to talk to him so much. Never in my life will I forget this weekend!

Ela also attended the con and had a great experience with Jeff:

Jeff was very very nice to me and said “I’m sorry” when I told him that Re-Animator scared me when I was a little girl.

It was such a pleasure to meet this horror icon and get a great autograph from him with the words: “Ela you’re next.”

Fabrice, a French Jeff fan, just emailed me his report on the con, as well as some fabulous photos of Jeff! Merci beaucoup, Fabrice! Tu es trop gentile! :)

Here are Fabrice’s thoughts on meeting Jeff:

Fabrice meets Jeff for the first time!

What a pleasure of meeting Jeffrey Combs at the WOH 3!!! Finally!!! He was there to be already the last year and his cancellation had been a great disappointment!!! It’s with happiness which we could French fans finally meet him!!! I will keep the memory of an available man, appearing rather timid but he’s sweetest folded with the various requests of fans!!! A great man, thank you Mr. Combs!!!

Fabrice’s friend Seb made a small documentary of the con that includes Jeff and many of the other celebrities who attended saying hello to his fellow French fans!

Thanks to everyone who contributed! Glad you all had a good time! :)
