• Jeff has just wrapped filming Dark House, a new thriller by Darin Scott. He plays Walston Rey, an impresario who turns a foster home with a bloody past into a haunted house attraction. When a young woman and her acting students are hired to perform in Rey’s show, a new string of grisly murders begins and we discover the house may truly be haunted!

Jeff has appeared in several other projects for Scott, including Caught Up, Love and a .45, and the upcoming adaptation of the graphic novel, The Night Driver.

• Wizard of Gore in which Jeff plays a Circus Geek will be released on DVD August 19th.

And for anyone attending ComicCon in San Diego at the end of the month, Genius, Wizard’s distributor will be there promoting the film, so watch for their booth!

Jeff has just wrapped filming Darin Scott’s new thriller Dark House in which he plays Walston Rey, an impresario who runs a haunted house out of a former orphanage with a bloody past. More info on this feature very soon!

Also, the site for Jeff’s upcoming film Parasomnia has just been updated and looks cooler than ever! Check out the new trailer featuring Jeff as the suicidal Detective Garrett in this upcoming William Malone feature! (Warning: some graphic scenes). For anyone in the U.S. who missed Jeff’s awesome episode of Cold Case, it will re-air at tonight at 9pm on CBS.

The episode called “Spiders,” follows the unsolved murder of a young woman named Tamyra. There is some speculation that her deadbeat father, Sly Borden (Jeff!) may be involved. To complicate matters, before her death Tamyra befriended a young white supremacist man nicknamed “Spider” who may be a suspect as well.

Jeff was absolutely brilliant as Sly and the episode was very good overall. For anyone who missed it the first time, here’s another chance to catch Jeff on a major network during prime time! Let’s hope this happens more often!

I just got word that Jeff has started filming Dark House, an independent thriller written and directed by Darin Scott!

He will be playing Walston Rey, “the self-proclaimed King of Horror Haunts,” who turns a former foster home with a bloody past into a “haunted mansion for the ages” for Halloween. A young woman named Claire returns to the house in hopes of exorcising her past. When she and some of her acting students are hired to perform in Rey’s show, a new string of grisly murders begins and we discover the house may truly be haunted!

Jeff has appeared in several other projects for Scott, including Caught Up, Love and a .45, and the upcoming adaptation of the graphic novel, The Night Driver.

I just spoke with director Jeremy Kasten who gave me some exclusive details on the DVD itself:

“I’m very excited because I’ve been very involved with everything that goes on that DVD. The Weinstein Company has been completely thrilled with everything we’ve given them…We shot tons of behind the scenes footage, really interesting stuff, I think there’s over an hour and a half of additional material with deleted scenes in it.”

CONVENTIONS

• Jeff has a small voice-only cameo as a frustrated 911 operator in Stuck, Stuart Gordon’s latest thriller. Even though the scene is fleeting, it’s still wonderful to have Jeff back on the big screen!

The story follows a young nurse (Mena Suvari) who accidentally hits a homeless man (Stephen Rea) and instead of taking him to the emergency room, chooses to leave him trapped in her windshield.

• Back in April, director Ryan Schifrin provided us with some great exclusive info that Jeff will play a major part in the sequel to his fun sasquatch horror movie, Abominable! Jeff is returning as the loveable Buddy along with fellow ’squatch survivor, Matt McCoy.

Larry Hama, screenwriter of the recently announced sequel was recently interviewed by CHUD and also mentioned a new female character and a military team that will be battling the rampant beasts.

Here’s hoping Buddy gets his revenge on the ’squatch that left him for dead!

The film is based on true events and follows the story of Brandi (Mena Suvari), a nurse who on her way home from partying hits a homeless man Tom (Stephen Rea) with her car. Instead of driving him to the hospital, she chooses to leave him trapped in her windshield, realizing her fate is now tied to this stranger. The story follows Brandi’s choices for her uncertain future and Tom’s attempts to escape.

Jeff has a small (voice only) cameo as an incredibly unhelpful 911 operator that Tom calls in hopes of being rescued. Although it’s a very fleeting scene, Jeff is wonderful and it’s great to have him on the big screen again!

There was talk of a possible idea for a Vannacutt-centered film mentioned by producer Erik Olsen in an interview with Jeff last year with the tentative title of The Revenge of Vannacutt, but nothing definite.

This is the first Jeff has heard of this project, so unfortunately, it’s just a rumor. The article has since been removed from the site.

This is the most recent (and sadly last) season of this absolutely wonderful show. Jeff plays Dr. Kevin Burkhoff, a neuroscientist who is considered “The Father of the 4400” as his research into dormant neural pathways relates to the abilities with which the 4400 were returned. Jeff is fantastic in this role and he truly made Kevin so memorable and real.

All four seasons of The 4400 are now out on DVD in North America*. I would strongly recommend watching the series in order to fully comprehend and enjoy them.

Abominable

Jeff has a wonderful cameo in this oldschool horror movie about a rampaging sasquatch that causes havoc in a small mountain town. He plays Buddy, the quirky, oxygen-dependent clerk of the local general store who seems to know more than he lets on about the strange occurrences in the town.

This version is a re-release of the original DVD that was put out in 2006. The special features remain the same and include an absolutely fantastic commentary with Jeff and director Ryan Schifrin over Jeff’s scenes in the film, a wonderful featurette including interviews with Jeff and others about working on the film, and a great stills gallery with loads of photos.

There is recent news that Schifrin has planned a sequel to the film and that Jeff will be a major part of it! This new film is being written by Schifrin’s Spooks comic co-writer, Larry Hama. Hama is best known for his writing on the G.I. Joe comic series, so the new film will have a more military plotline. Click here for more exclusive info.

NEWS

• Jeff will be featured in a new film called Mineville that starts production in the fall. Directed by Beyond Re-Animator co-star Jason Barry, the film focuses on Irish immigrant mineworkers in 1910 who forged iron ore, the material from which much of the Manhattan we know today was built. The story deals with a friendship between two boys from different backgrounds and their struggle to leave their pasts behind and grow into adulthood.

The big budget period drama will film for 10 weeks in New York.

• Jeff has just completed filming a new sci-fi feature entitled, The Darkest Evil which is a modern retelling of H.P. Lovecraft’s classic tale, “The Dunwich Horror.” Jeff plays Wilbur Whateley, part of a strange, inbred family that threatens to unleash an other-worldly evil on the earth. The film will have a limited theatrical release in the fall with a possible airing on the Sci-Fi channel. More exclusive info here.
